This is a rough sketch, or mockup, intended to show one possible version
of the final poster. The poster was not produced this year, but the
concept may be applied to another domestic abuse conference in the future.

This image was created by combining scanned drawings of the figures made on paper
with additional graphic elements created in Corel Draw v12. Corel Draw Suite (Draw, Photo-Paint, Trace, Capture, etc.) is relatively inexpensive and a reasonable alternative to PhotoShop (you might also try Paint.NET, an free and very versatile PhotoShop alternative.)

This is the cover for a one-page folded brochure created
for the 2005 Bienville parish domestic violence vigil hosted by DART.
DART (Domestic Abuse Resistance Team) serves 5 parishes--Lincoln,
Union, Jackson, Claiborne, Bienville--in North Louisiana.
We hold vigils in each of these parishes during October,
Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

In these 5 parishes there have been 19 women and 4 children killed as a
direct result of domestic violence since the founding of DART 10 years ago (1995).
DART provides assistance to approximately 700 victims of domestic abuse
in any one year.

To create this image I scanned a layout sketched on paper and used
this image within Microsoft's Creature House Expression 3. Expression 3 is a fairly easy and intuitive vector-based drawing program.
