The old man did
not mind that I stood by the side of his rows of twisted, scintillating, stalks of corn.
An amazing plant, corn presents the appearance of a thick fluid: patches of light
and dark come and go with the wind, as though surfacing, then sinking, into the leafy
abyss. I am not the camera which captures so perfectly a single moment; I am the
painter who swims in the river of the wind.
